How to convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG

iPhones save photos as HEIC, which many websites and forms won’t accept. Convert them to JPG in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Why your photos are HEIC

Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container). It keeps similar quality at roughly half the file size of JPEG, but many upload forms, older Windows apps and websites still only accept JPG or PNG.

Convert without uploading

Open Convert image and add your HEIC photos. They are decoded inside your browser, so they never leave your device. JPEG is chosen automatically; download one, or use Export all as ZIP for a batch.

JPG or PNG?

Choose JPG for photos — it is smaller and accepted almost everywhere. Choose PNG only if you need lossless pixels, for example for editing later. Expect the JPG to be larger than the HEIC: HEIC is simply more efficient.

Use HEIC photos directly in any tool

Every tool on this site accepts HEIC. You can add an iPhone photo straight to the passport photo maker or compress it to a KB limit without converting it first.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?

JPEG is lossy, so a little detail can change, but at the default quality the difference is very hard to see.

Can I convert JPG back to HEIC?

Not here. HEIC can be opened but not saved, because browsers can’t yet encode it reliably.
